Role overview A product-focused iGaming company is looking for a developer who can build and maintain WordPress properties while leading the move toward a headless Next.js frontend. The work blends traditional WordPress engineering (themes, plugins, Gutenberg) with modern React-based frontend development, technical SEO, and performance tuning for multilingual, affiliate-driven projects.
Responsibilities - Develop and maintain custom WordPress themes, plugins, and Gutenberg blocks using ACF, custom post types, and taxonomies. - Build Next.js frontends that talk to WordPress through REST API or WPGraphQL as a headless CMS. - Implement multilingual architecture with hreflang and convert existing sites into headless setups. - Apply technical SEO, including metadata, Open Graph, schema.org, sitemaps, canonical tags, and Core Web Vitals optimisation. - Integrate affiliate tracking and third-party services, and document solutions through Git workflows and code review.
Requirements - Strong PHP and WordPress fundamentals, including hooks, filters, template hierarchy, and custom theme and plugin development. - Proficiency with Gutenberg, React, ACF, and JavaScript or TypeScript with the Next.js App Router. - Practical understanding of SSG, ISR, and SSR patterns along with caching strategies. - Solid HTML and CSS skills, REST API experience, Git fluency, and familiarity with webpack or Vite. - Hands-on experience with technical SEO, Yoast or Rank Math, and multilingual site projects. - Comfort using AI-assisted development tools in day-to-day workflows.
Nice to have - WPGraphQL, Tailwind CSS, Vercel or self-hosted Node.js, Cloudflare or other CDN configuration, CI/CD pipelines, and affiliate marketing or tracking exposure.
