Role overview A globally distributed AI team is seeking a Software Engineer to drive the data infrastructure that powers its text-to-speech model development. The position blends cloud engineering, large-scale data acquisition, and research collaboration, all aimed at producing petabyte-scale training datasets efficiently. The hire will be based in Stuttgart, Germany and contribute to roadmap decisions for future consumer and enterprise products.
Responsibilities - Hunt down fresh audio data sources and feed them into the team's ingestion pipeline. - Maintain and grow the cloud stack running on GCP, with infrastructure defined through Terraform. - Collaborate with scientists to improve cost, throughput, and data quality tradeoffs at every stage. - Co-author the dataset roadmap alongside AI leadership to guide upcoming product work. - Juggle multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment where ingestion needs evolve quickly.
Requirements - BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field. - Minimum 5 years of industry software engineering experience. - Comfortable scripting in bash and Python on Linux systems. - Solid grasp of Docker and Infrastructure-as-Code, plus production experience with at least one major cloud provider (GCP preferred). - Clear written and verbal communication skills.
Nice to have - Experience building crawlers or operating large-scale data processing workflows.
