About this role
Role overview This position supports the data foundation of a consumer-facing text-to-speech product used by more than 50 million people across web, mobile, and desktop surfaces. The engineer joins the AI team to own the full lifecycle of training data acquisition and the cloud infrastructure that powers petabyte-scale ingestion, working at the intersection of software engineering and machine learning research.
Responsibilities - Discover, evaluate, and integrate new sources of audio data into the ingestion pipeline. - Operate and extend the GCP-based cloud infrastructure that backs the data pipeline, with Terraform-managed provisioning. - Partner with research scientists to push the cost, throughput, and quality frontier so richer datasets can be delivered at larger scale and lower cost for next-generation models. - Contribute to the dataset roadmap for the AI team alongside leadership, shaping how consumer and enterprise products are powered. - Handle multiple workstreams and adapt priorities as research and product needs evolve.
Requirements - BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a closely related field. - 5+ years of professional software development experience. - Proficiency with bash and Python scripting in Linux environments. - Hands-on experience with Docker and infrastructure-as-code, plus production experience with at least one major cloud provider (GCP is the primary platform). - Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Nice to have - Experience building or scaling web crawlers and other large-volume data processing workflows.
