Role overview A fully distributed text-to-speech company is hiring a Software Engineer in San Jose to drive data acquisition and infrastructure for its AI training operations. The role owns end-to-end collection pipelines that produce petabyte-scale audio datasets at low cost, tightly coupling engineering, infrastructure, and applied research. The team works asynchronously with no central office and operates at the intersection of artificial intelligence and audio.
Responsibilities - Hunt for new audio data sources and feed them into the ingestion pipeline. - Run and extend the cloud infrastructure for ingestion on GCP, managed with Terraform. - Partner with research scientists to expand the cost, throughput, and quality frontier for training data. - Contribute to the AI team's dataset roadmap supporting next-generation consumer and enterprise products. - Balance multiple priorities and adapt to changing project needs.
Requirements - BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related field. - 5+ years of industry experience in software development. - Proficiency with bash and Python scripting in Linux environments. - Working knowledge of Docker and Infrastructure-as-Code on at least one major cloud provider. - Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Nice to have - Experience with web crawlers and large-scale data processing workflows.
