About this role
Role overview This position sits on the data side of an AI team building text-to-speech products used by tens of millions of people to convert written material into audio. The engineer will own and evolve the ingestion systems that supply petabyte-scale audio datasets powering next-generation model training. The work blends infrastructure engineering, large-scale data acquisition, and close research collaboration in a fully distributed, asynchronous environment.
Responsibilities - Identify and onboard new audio data sources into the ingestion pipeline through creative, hands-on exploration. - Operate and extend cloud infrastructure on GCP, managed with Terraform, supporting high-throughput data flows. - Partner with research scientists to push the cost, throughput, and quality frontier, delivering richer datasets at greater scale and lower expense. - Help shape the team's dataset roadmap to enable upcoming consumer and enterprise products. - Adapt to shifting priorities while juggling multiple concurrent initiatives.
Requirements - BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a closely related field. - 5+ years of professional software development experience. - Proficiency in bash and Python scripting on Linux systems. - Hands-on experience with Docker and Infrastructure-as-Code concepts. - Professional experience with at least one major cloud provider, ideally GCP. - Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Nice to have - Experience building web crawlers and large-scale data processing workflows.
