About this role
Role overview Help build the audio data backbone for an AI team that trains models powering a popular text-to-speech reading product. You will own pieces of the data acquisition and infrastructure stack, combining cloud engineering, scripting, and close collaboration with scientists to produce petabyte-scale datasets efficiently. This opening sits within a fully distributed engineering organization and is being hired for London, United Kingdom.
Responsibilities - Track down new audio data sources and funnel them into the ingestion pipeline - Operate and grow the cloud infrastructure behind ingestion, built on Google Cloud Platform with Terraform - Partner with research scientists to improve the trade-off between cost, throughput, and dataset quality - Shape the team's dataset roadmap together with AI leadership - Support both consumer and enterprise product lines through reliable, high-quality training data delivery
Requirements - Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science or a closely related discipline - 5+ years of professional software engineering experience - Confident with bash and Python scripting on Linux systems - Working knowledge of Docker and Infrastructure-as-Code, with hands-on experience at a major cloud provider - Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt as needs shift - Clear written and verbal communication
Nice to have - Experience designing web crawlers or operating large-scale data processing pipelines
