Role overview A fast-growing, fully distributed AI company focused on text-to-speech accessibility is hiring a Software Engineer to strengthen its data infrastructure team. The role owns every layer of audio data acquisition that feeds model training, combining engineering, infrastructure, and research at petabyte scale. You will work remotely alongside scientists and engineers spread across multiple continents.
Responsibilities - Scout and integrate new audio data sources into the ingestion pipeline, balancing coverage and quality - Operate and evolve cloud infrastructure on GCP managed through Terraform, keeping the pipeline reliable and cost-efficient - Partner with research scientists to push the cost, throughput, and quality frontier for training datasets - Co-author the dataset roadmap with the AI team and leadership to support upcoming consumer and enterprise products - Contribute to tooling and automation that allow rapid experimentation with data sources and formats
Requirements - BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a closely related field - 5+ years of industry experience in software development - Strong scripting skills in bash and Python on Linux - Hands-on experience with Docker and Infrastructure-as-Code, plus professional work with a major cloud provider (GCP preferred) - Comfort juggling multiple workstreams and adapting to shifting priorities - Clear written and verbal communication in a remote, asynchronous environment
