About this role
Role overview Join the data side of an applied AI team focused on powering text-to-speech reading products used by more than 50 million people across mobile, desktop, browser, and web. The work centers on building and operating the data acquisition and infrastructure stack that feeds model training at petabyte scale, tightly integrating engineering, infrastructure, and research. It is a fully remote, distributed role supporting an asynchronous, entrepreneurial culture that serves consumers, enterprises, and learners with disabilities such as dyslexia, ADHD, low vision, concussions, and autism.
Responsibilities - Scout new audio data sources and onboard them into the ingestion pipeline in a pragmatic, scrappy way - Operate and extend cloud infrastructure running on GCP and managed through Terraform, keeping training data flowing reliably at scale - Partner with research scientists to push the cost, throughput, and quality frontier, delivering richer datasets at larger scale and lower cost - Contribute to roadmap planning with AI team leadership, shaping dataset strategy for upcoming consumer and enterprise products
Requirements - BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a closely related field - 5+ years of professional software development experience - Proficiency with bash and Python scripting in Linux environments - Working knowledge of Docker and infrastructure-as-code, plus hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider - Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-moving setting
Nice to have - Experience building web crawlers and designing large-scale data processing workflows
