About this role
Role overview Build and run the data acquisition layer behind a leading text-to-speech platform that turns books, articles, and documents into audio for tens of millions of users. The Software Engineer will own ingestion infrastructure end to end, scaling petabyte datasets efficiently and affordably. The position is remote and combines cloud engineering, scripting, and research-driven collaboration.
Responsibilities - Track down new sources of audio data and bring them into the team's ingestion pipeline. - Operate and grow the cloud ingestion environment on GCP, provisioned through Terraform. - Work closely with research scientists to shift the cost, throughput, and quality frontier, supplying richer datasets for upcoming models. - Help plan the dataset roadmap alongside AI leadership to support new consumer and enterprise products. - Evolve large-scale data processing workflows that power model training.
Requirements - BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a closely related discipline. - At least five years of professional software development experience. - Solid command of bash and Python scripting in Linux. - Hands-on experience with Docker and Infrastructure-as-Code on a major cloud provider, ideally GCP. - Capacity to juggle multiple priorities in a changing environment. - Clear written and verbal communication skills.
Nice to have - Experience building web crawlers or operating large-scale data processing systems.
