About this role
Role overview Contribute to the data backbone of a widely adopted AI-powered reading platform that converts written content into natural-sounding audio. The Software Engineer will run the full lifecycle of data acquisition for training, from sourcing new audio to operating the cloud pipeline at petabyte scale. This is a remote role that pairs infrastructure engineering with research collaboration.
Responsibilities - Hunt down new audio data sources and integrate them into the ingestion pipeline. - Maintain and extend the cloud ingestion stack built on GCP and managed via Terraform. - Collaborate with research scientists to optimize the cost, throughput, and quality of training datasets. - Partner with AI leadership to define the dataset roadmap for future consumer and enterprise products. - Improve and stabilize large-scale data processing workflows.
Requirements - BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related field. - Five or more years of professional software engineering experience. - Proficiency with bash and Python in Linux environments. - Experience with Docker and Infrastructure-as-Code, plus production work on at least one major cloud provider, ideally GCP. - Ability to manage several priorities and shift direction as requirements evolve. - Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Nice to have - Familiarity with web crawlers and large-scale data processing systems.
