Role overview A fully distributed text-to-speech AI company is hiring a Software Engineer to own audio data acquisition for its model training pipeline. The position blends infrastructure engineering with research collaboration to build petabyte-scale datasets affordably and reliably. Work is remote from anywhere in the United States, embedded with a global team of scientists and engineers.
Responsibilities - Discover and onboard new audio sources, expanding the diversity and volume of training data - Run and extend the GCP-based ingestion pipeline governed by Terraform - Work alongside research scientists to optimize the trade-offs between dataset cost, throughput, and quality - Help define the long-term dataset strategy in partnership with AI leadership - Build internal tooling that accelerates iteration on data sources, schemas, and quality filters
Requirements - BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related discipline - 5+ years of professional software engineering experience - Fluency in bash and Python in Linux environments - Production experience with Docker and Infrastructure-as-Code on a major cloud, ideally GCP - Ability to manage parallel initiatives and pivot as priorities evolve - Strong written and verbal communication for a remote, async-first team
Nice to have - Experience designing web crawlers or operating large-scale data processing workflows
