Role overview
A senior DevSecOps engineer role focused on building and maturing DevOps practices within a Scrum team, with primary responsibility for managing Red Hat Enterprise Linux patching across the full environment using AWS automation. The position supports government-facing programs and blends infrastructure, security, and CI/CD engineering. It calls for an experienced systems lead who can serve as an escalation point, guide a team of system administrators, and engage effectively with customers and management.
Responsibilities
- Champion a DevOps culture on a Scrum team, partnering with the DevOps Manager and peers to improve delivery practices and tooling. - Own the patching of Red Hat Enterprise Linux across the ecosystem using AWS automation, including Systems Manager Automation documents. - Install, configure, and maintain the toolchain spanning source control, CI/CD, deployment, monitoring, database, repository, provisioning, release, logging, build, test, containerization, collaboration, and security functions. - Lead and mentor a team of system administrators, acting as the technical point of escalation for complex production and platform issues. - Implement and refine CI/CD pipelines and support AWS-hosted applications using services such as EC2, S3, VPC, Elastic Load Balancers, and Elastic File Share, alongside JBOSS. - Translate customer requirements into practical, timely solutions, combining functional and technical judgment with strong communication and diplomacy.
Requirements
- 7-10 years as a system administrator, plus 5-7 years of hands-on experience with DevOps tooling and 5-7 years supporting applications on AWS. - Demonstrated experience running Red Hat Enterprise Linux patching through AWS automation and familiarity with JBOSS. - Background implementing CI/CD pipelines and working across multiple tool categories such as source control, build, testing, monitoring, logging, provisioning, containerization, repositories, deployment, collaboration, and security. - Experience leading system administrators and serving as an escalation point, with strong judgment, organization, and collaboration skills. - Track record working on Agile projects that span multiple internal teams, with the ability to independently diagnose and resolve technical problems. - Bachelor's degree; ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance; must have resided in the United States for 3 of the past 5 years.
