About this role
Role overview The Platform Engineer builds and operates AWS cloud infrastructure that underpins a growing financial and hospitality technology platform. This hands-on role carries meaningful ownership over compute, networking, data stores, deployment workflows, observability, and operational reliability, partnering closely with application engineers and contributing to platform-level architectural decisions.
Responsibilities - Design, build, and evolve AWS infrastructure across compute, networking, storage, and managed services - Contribute to platform-level architectural decisions, including service migrations and runtime changes - Build and maintain deployment pipelines that are safe, repeatable, and observable - Participate in incident response, root-cause analysis, and on-call rotations - Build observability coverage with metrics, logs, tracing, and alerting - Ensure secure AWS configuration including IAM, secrets management, and network boundaries
Requirements - 4+ years of experience building and operating production infrastructure in cloud environments - Hands-on experience with AWS core services such as EC2, ECS/EKS, VPC, IAM, RDS, ElastiCache, ALB/NLB, and CloudWatch - Understanding of containerized workloads and orchestration concepts - Experience running production systems, responding to incidents, and learning from failures - Familiarity with security principles such as least privilege, network isolation, and secure defaults - Ability to evaluate infrastructure tradeoffs and balance modernization with stability
Nice to have - Experience with capacity planning, failure modeling, and controlled change management - Background contributing to infrastructure standards and best practices in a growing team
