About this role
Role overview This is a founding DevOps opportunity at a small fintech whose platform sits in the critical path of how banks onboard their customers. As the first dedicated infrastructure hire, you will own the production environment end to end, partnering closely with engineering and security in a compliance-heavy, regulated setting.
Responsibilities - Own the build, test, and deploy pipeline, with progressive rollouts, fast rollbacks, and high deploy confidence - Drive infrastructure as fully reproducible code-based environments and enforce that standard across the team - Define and meet contractual uptime targets, building monitoring, alerting, and incident response so issues are caught before customers notice - Mature the on-call practice from ad-hoc heroics into a repeatable system - Partner with security on change management, access controls, audit logging, SOC 2, and bank due-diligence evidence - Manage the cloud bill so growth does not translate into linear infrastructure spend
Requirements - 5+ years in DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering, ideally as an early or solo infrastructure hire - Deep production fluency with a major cloud provider (AWS) and infrastructure-as-code - Track record of building CI/CD pipelines that engineers genuinely enjoy using - Strong observability instincts: instrumenting systems, defining SLOs, running incident processes - Comfort with or willingness to learn regulated-environment demands (SOC 2, ISO 27001) - A default toward automation, mechanisms, and documentation over manual process
Nice to have - Fintech, banking, or other regulated-industry background - Multi-tenant SaaS architecture experience - Database operations: backups, migrations, performance - Security-adjacent skills such as secrets management, network segmentation, and least-privilege IAM
Benefits and work setup - Equity, sponsored 401K, parental leave, and fully paid health, vision, and dental insurance - Unlimited PTO, remote work stipend, lifestyle stipend, and twice-yearly company retreats - Fully remote within the US
