Role overview A public-sector technology team is hiring a Junior Systems Analyst to help keep mission-critical data services running smoothly. The role centers on operational monitoring, incident triage, and hands-on support across production environments, with periodic night, off-hours, and on-call coverage during peak business periods.
Responsibilities - Monitor application and system health across production and pre-production environments using logging and observability platforms - Perform initial triage of production incidents, document findings, and escalate issues to senior analysts and management - Support shift-based operations, including periodic night, off-hours, and rotational on-call coverage during critical periods - Review and analyze change requests and operational tickets, assisting with troubleshooting and root cause investigation - Prepare and distribute operational status reports on a recurring schedule - Collaborate with cross-functional technical teams to troubleshoot issues, restore service, and validate fixes
Requirements - Minimum two years of experience in systems analysis, IT operations, application support, software development, or a closely related technical field - Foundational knowledge of the software development lifecycle, change management, and system security best practices - Basic programming familiarity with Java or another language - Understanding of incident triage, prioritization, escalation, and troubleshooting workflows - Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, information technology, engineering, or a related technical field - Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance, with at least three of the past five years residing in the United States
Nice to have - Hands-on exposure to monitoring tools such as Splunk, New Relic, or OpenSearch through work, internships, or coursework - Experience supporting production applications, help desk operations, cloud platforms, or system administration - Familiarity with healthcare industry systems or data - Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or ITIL Foundation
