Engineering Manager

Role overview

This is a hands-on engineering manager role leading the team behind a broker productivity product on a web-based healthcare platform. The manager owns engineering for their squad end-to-end, partners with Product and Design, coaches engineers, and helps grow the broader technical foundation. The position is fully remote within the U.S.

Responsibilities

- Build and guide development of new product features that create a frictionless experience for end users - Architect and design technical solutions with a focus on impact - Review code and specifications, setting the technical direction for the team - Contribute to the development and prioritization of the tech infrastructure roadmap - Provide mentorship and career coaching to direct reports - Coordinate with Product to drive planning, prioritization, and execution of the roadmap - Sequence and scope projects to align with business goals - Manage team processes and productivity to ensure timely project delivery

Requirements

- 5–8+ years of full-stack software engineering experience in a startup environment - Strong technical foundation with Python and Django or similar frameworks - Experience architecting and owning production systems and complex frameworks - Hands-on experience with JavaScript frameworks such as Vue or React - 1+ years leading engineering teams in a management capacity - Player-coach leadership style, balancing hands-on work with team management - Experience hiring, growing, and managing software engineers - Strong project management, planning, and prioritization skills with a focus on delivery - Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
