About this role
Role overview A senior environment concept artist role on an AAA video game development team contributing to a new, unannounced title. The position partners closely with the Art Director, Game Director, and Art Leads to imagine fantasy-based worlds, drive the visual direction, and produce artwork that defines the look of the project end to end.
Responsibilities - Design environments, props, production callouts, system interactions, high-vision concept art, color scripts, and marketing visuals that guide the development team. - Blend goals from game design, art direction, and technical considerations into environments that raise the visual bar. - Research subject matter relevant to assigned tasks and gather reference that strengthens concept work. - Build and maintain creative partnerships across disciplines to evolve the visual language and rule sets for fantasy worlds. - Solve complex artistic problems for other artists and team members, and contribute to evolving pipelines, tools, and techniques. - Continuously improve craft by studying industry techniques, learning new software and traditional methods, and evaluating competitive products.
Requirements - Strong foundation in drawing, painting and rendering, material indication, perspective, composition, color theory, design, anatomy, and both 2D and 3D design techniques. - Demonstrated design skills for rendering realistic, believable fantasy props, architecture, and natural landscapes using contemporary industry-standard tools. - Strong ideation, brainstorming, and documentation abilities. - High proficiency in Photoshop with an emphasis on drawing, painting, and image making. - Ability to block out ideas in 3D as well as 2D depending on task needs. - Three or more years of AAA video game platform experience. - Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts or a related curriculum, or equivalent professional skillset. - Familiarity with video game production workflows and the fundamentals of 3D packages.
