Role overview
A senior game designer is needed to define and drive the core player experience across user interface, character and enemy combat, locomotion, mini-games, and cooperative gameplay. This is a leadership-level creative role on an action game project, partnering with animation, programming, level design, and tools teams from concept through final polish. The position can be hybrid, remote, or on-site at the studio's London, Ontario location.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor the design team to deliver the creative vision and product goals for the game - Partner with animation, programming, and level design to ship a polished player experience - Work with the tools team to streamline gameplay development for fast iteration and testing - Champion and clearly communicate the product vision across all disciplines - Analyze gameplay data, player feedback, and playtest results to refine designs - Document design concepts and ensure alignment across development teams - Track industry trends in enemy and boss design to bring fresh ideas to the team - Participate in playtests, sharing and receiving constructive feedback
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a designer in the video game industry - Track record designing and implementing in live service or multiplayer environments - Hands-on experience with first-person or third-person games - Strong grasp of player feedback loops, hit detection, and animation timing for responsive combat - Proficiency with game engines and associated design tools - Ability to analyze gameplay data and user feedback to inform decisions - Excellent written, visual, and verbal communication across multidisciplinary teams - Detail-oriented, able to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
