Role overview A senior pre-sales engineering position focused on cybersecurity solutions, partnering with sales and channel partners across an Ohio-based territory. The role is primarily remote or office-based (roughly 70% of the time) with up to 30% travel, blending deep technical expertise with customer-facing engagement to design security architectures for complex enterprise environments.
Responsibilities - Partner with sales teams to drive technical engagement throughout the customer lifecycle, from initial discovery through deployment - Support channel partners including VARs, MSPs, and MSSPs with solution positioning, deployment guidance, and ongoing technical enablement - Deliver product demonstrations, proof-of-concepts, technical presentations, and whiteboard sessions for technical and executive audiences - Provide technical consultation and solution recommendations aligned with customer business and security objectives - Collaborate with product management, support, marketing, and solution engineering teams to address customer and partner needs - Build relationships with customers, partners, and key stakeholders while contributing to regional revenue growth initiatives
Requirements - Bachelor's degree with 6+ years of related experience, or Master's degree with 3+ years, or an equivalent combination of education and experience - Active CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) certification - Background in Pre-Sales, Technical Support, Professional Services, or Solution Engineering within a cybersecurity vendor, channel partner, distributor, systems integrator, or enterprise environment - Demonstrated ability to independently lead technical sales engagements with minimal supervision - Strong communication, objection-handling, whiteboarding, and solution-selling skills - Experience evaluating customer requirements and translating them into effective technical solutions
Nice to have - Microsoft Azure Associate and/or AWS Associate certification - Familiarity with governance, risk, and compliance frameworks such as HIPAA, PCI-DSS, SOX, FERPA, CIPA, and GDPR - Hands-on experience with managed security and cloud security environments - Working knowledge of Layer 2 through Layer 7 networking, NAT, stateful firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPN (IPsec/SSL), PKI, SAML 2.0 and modern IdPs, Zero Trust, SASE/SSE, VMware/Hyper-V, and major public cloud platforms
