Senior Software Engineer, Backend (OS)
Job details
About this role
Role overview A senior backend engineer is needed to build endpoint capabilities and distributed orchestration services that power realistic offensive-security simulations and synthetic user personas across large cyber-range environments. The work operates below standard application abstractions, driving how simulated users interact with operating-system facilities (sessions, processes, UI, networking) to generate high-fidelity system and security telemetry.
Responsibilities - Design, build, and operate production software in Go, Python, and Kotlin for attack and user emulation frameworks. - Develop deep operating-system integrations on Windows and Linux using native APIs, session management, process execution, and system facilities. - Improve system reliability, security, testability, and observability across message-driven architectures operating at scale. - Solve high-fidelity emulation challenges including desktop/web automation, privilege boundaries, input simulation, and realistic user timing. - Collaborate with backend, security, and AI engineering teams to define reusable primitives and APIs. - Conduct code and design reviews, mentor teammates, and elevate platform-level engineering craft.
Requirements - 6+ years of hands-on software engineering experience delivering and operating production systems. - Deep practical experience with Windows or Linux systems development below application-level abstractions (native APIs, process/session management, eBPF, IPC, or security contexts). - Strong proficiency in Go, or demonstrated expertise in another systems language with ability to ramp quickly. - Experience with JVM languages (Kotlin/Java) and message-driven, asynchronous architectures. - Ability to reason about complex OS failure modes, fidelity-versus-complexity trade-offs, and distributed-system stability.
Nice to have - Experience building production endpoint, monitoring, remote management, or EDR/security agents. - Background in desktop/browser automation, accessibility APIs, or computer vision. - Familiarity with hypervisors, VDI, endpoint security telemetry, adversary emulation, or tool integration for AI agents.
Benefits and work setup - Base monthly compensation range of 1,500,000–2,500,000 CRC with annual performance bonuses. - Private medical, dental, vision, and life benefits plus company-paid mental health support. - Paid parental leave, equity stock options, and ongoing learning stipends.
