Responsibilities

- Lead the design, development, testing, and deployment of scalable, fault-tolerant software supporting promotional systems and customer reward flows - Clarify requirements, contribute to coding and story estimates, and drive technical planning and design discussions - Participate in on-call rotations to triage and resolve production incidents, performing root-cause analysis to prevent recurrence - Make pragmatic short-term versus long-term architectural trade-offs, remove bottlenecks, and proactively simplify the codebase - Conduct code reviews, champion best practices, and improve test coverage, operational metrics, and team documentation - Mentor and coach other engineers, reduce onboarding friction, and advise product and technology leaders on key technical decisions - Stay current on emerging software trends and occasionally travel for team events, conferences, and meetings

Requirements

- 5+ years of experience building highly scalable and fault-tolerant distributed systems - Broad knowledge of design approaches and the ability to debug system-wide production issues - Demonstrated experience mentoring engineers and communicating complex technical topics to varied audiences, including non-technical stakeholders - Familiarity with Agile delivery and Scrum methodology, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills - Comfort working in an entrepreneurial, hyper-growth environment where priorities evolve quickly - Team-first mindset with the ability to work cross-functionally across an enterprise setting

Nice to have

- Startup experience and at least 1 year leading a development team - Hands-on experience with Java/Spring Boot, React, Apache Kafka, AWS, and PostgreSQL

- Full-time position with a base salary range of €101,200–€126,500 EUR plus additional compensation components - Occasional travel to offices and industry events is expected as part of the role
