Job details
About this role
Role overview Maintain and reactivate a legacy ColdFusion application used for event operations and marketing CRM workflows. The work follows a defined, prioritized backlog, with emphasis on safe changes to existing functionality rather than open-ended discovery. The application runs on ColdFusion 2025 with CFML and CFScript, Windows/IIS, SQL Server, and AWS-hosted infrastructure.
Responsibilities - Set up a separate development and test environment, including configuration, data sources, and scheduled tasks, and check it against production. - Add server-side validation and repair audience filters and the upload/import screen. - Restore the application's email sending workflows, including scheduled jobs, bounce processing, unsubscribe handling, and email header and footer changes. - Secure authentication for endpoints used by scheduled tasks. - Add feature flags and document a rollback plan for each change. - Coordinate ColdFusion patching with the infrastructure provider and work against defined acceptance criteria.
Requirements - Senior-level, hands-on ColdFusion experience, including recent CFML and CFScript work within the past two to three years. - Experience with ColdFusion 2025 or a recent version, SQL Server, and IIS on Windows. - Ability to understand and safely modify legacy code with limited documentation. - Experience with ColdFusion scheduled tasks or jobs.
Nice to have - Familiarity with DNS, email platforms, deliverability, DMARC, or DKIM. - Upper-intermediate English.
Benefits and work setup - Part-time engagement of approximately 20–40 hours per week, to be finalized. - Remote work is available for candidates in the European Union, with at least four hours of overlap with US Eastern business hours. - Work alongside a product owner/program lead, a data engineer, and an infrastructure provider. Compensation is described as competitive and to be discussed.
