Senior Backend Java Engineer

Role overview A Senior Backend Java Engineer builds and supports backend services, APIs, and microservices using Java and Spring Boot. The work includes deploying cloud-native services on AWS ECS and integrating them with DynamoDB and other data stores, while coordinating with cross-functional teams on secure, performant software. The role is remote in Bolivia and requires at least five years of backend development experience.

Responsibilities - Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications with Java and Spring Boot. - Build and improve microservices deployed on AWS ECS. - Develop and maintain integrations with DynamoDB and other storage systems. - Create and support RESTful APIs and service integrations. - Collaborate across teams to deliver secure, reliable, and performant software.

Requirements - At least five years of backend software development experience. - Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot. - Experience designing REST APIs and microservices. - Practical AWS experience, particularly with ECS, and hands-on DynamoDB experience. - Knowledge of SQL, data modeling, design patterns, and clean code practices. - Proficiency with Git and Agile development, along with strong troubleshooting and communication skills.

Nice to have - Experience with additional AWS services and cloud-native architecture. - Familiarity with CI/CD, DevOps practices, Docker, or Linux. - Knowledge of event-driven systems, messaging, performance tuning, or application monitoring. - Familiarity with Jira.
