Full Stack Engineer (Ruby On Rails) - Backend focused

Role overview This is an early-stage, high-impact engineering role on a small founding-style team building a modern SaaS platform that helps consumer goods brands and manufacturers run lab testing and stay compliant with food-safety regulations. The work is 0-to-1 product building: scoping problems directly with customers, weighing architecture trade-offs, and shipping a secure platform from the ground up. It suits an engineer who wants ownership, mission-driven work, and the ability to shape both the codebase and the product direction.

Responsibilities - Design and build a modern SaaS application that helps CPG brands manage lab testing, certificate of analysis workflows, and regulatory compliance end to end. - Work shoulder-to-shoulder with the founding engineer and early customers to translate real-world testing workflows into product features. - Make architectural decisions across the platform, evaluating trade-offs around performance, maintainability, and security. - Apply security best practices to safeguard sensitive lab and product data, including testing results and customer information. - Contribute to UI and UX implementation, partnering with design to deliver a polished consumer-facing surface for lab data.

Requirements - 4+ years of professional full-stack engineering experience, with strong proficiency in Ruby on Rails, Hotwire (Turbo/Stimulus), Tailwind CSS, and PostgreSQL. - Prior experience building at an early-stage or high-growth startup, comfortable moving fast in ambiguous environments. - Self-directed problem solver with strong communication skills and the ability to see the big picture while shipping independently. - Demonstrated bias for action, with a track record of taking projects from concept to production.

Nice to have - React experience for client-side work. - Comfort working closely with design teams and contributing to UI/UX decisions. - Genuine motivation to improve transparency in the food and consumer goods system.
