Role overview
A defense-technology organization is hiring a Staff-level engineer to join its Enterprise Operations team. The role centers on building internal full-stack applications and improving the tooling, pipelines, and infrastructure that power engineering workflows across the business. It blends hands-on application development with platform-level DevOps work, supporting a fast-paced, mission-focused engineering environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain internal web applications and operational tools using C#/Blazor or Python. - Develop and optimize CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation, integrating GitLab or Azure DevOps, GitHub, Artifactory, and SonarQube. - Partner with cross-functional engineering teams to streamline software delivery, improve code quality, and increase operational visibility through automation. - Implement secure, maintainable, and scalable solutions that balance developer productivity with enterprise compliance needs. - Continuously evaluate and introduce modern DevOps and full-stack practices to raise the reliability of engineering workflows across the organization.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, typically paired with a bachelor's degree or equivalent practical background. - Strong track record developing and maintaining internal web applications with C#/Blazor and/or Python. - Hands-on expertise with CI/CD pipeline development, version control using GitHub, and artifact management with Artifactory. - Working knowledge of infrastructure-as-code, deployment automation, and code-scanning tooling such as SonarQube. - Solid grasp of secure software development, system integration, and enterprise-scale architecture. - Clear communication skills and a demonstrated history of cross-functional teamwork in fast-moving environments, with a commitment to ownership and continuous improvement.
Nice to have
- Background building software inside a defense, government contractor, or similarly regulated environment. - Familiarity with NIST 800-218 (SSDF) and other secure-coding or compliance frameworks. - Practical experience with DevSecOps practices, static and dynamic analysis, and artifact attestation. - Infrastructure-as-code work with Terraform or Bicep. - Integrating enterprise identity and access management systems, including SSO, RBAC, and audit logging. - Deeper skill with Blazor Server/WebAssembly and Python tooling that supports secure development workflows.
Benefits and work setup
- Listed salary range of $120,000–$180,000 per year, with full-time regular employees eligible for bonus, benefits, and equity. - Temporary employees receive pay within the same range plus a temporary benefits package after 60 days of employment. - Offers are contingent on a cleared background check and possible reference check. - Equal opportunity employer with accommodations available for candidates who need them; military fellows and part-time staff are not eligible for benefits.
