Role overview

This position is focused on detecting, investigating, and preventing fraudulent activity within a fintech environment that powers interest-free installment shopping. The analyst pairs data analytics skills with fraud-prevention expertise to protect customers and revenue from financial and reputational harm. It is a full-time, remote role suited for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, results-driven setting.

Responsibilities

- Monitor transactions and customer accounts to surface and investigate suspicious or fraudulent behavior - Use fraud detection tools, systems, and techniques to identify emerging trends and patterns - Lead in-depth investigations into suspected fraud, gathering evidence and clearly documenting findings - Query and analyze large datasets using SQL to surface anomalies, patterns, and behavioral signals - Design, refine, and implement fraud prevention rules, strategies, and controls - Track industry developments, emerging threats, and new technologies in fraud detection

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as economics, computer science, analytics, or a related discipline - At least two years of experience in fraud detection, prevention, or investigation - At least two years of hands-on experience with SQL and Python - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail - Familiarity with common fraud typologies including account takeover, identity theft, and payment fraud - Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex issues to varied audiences - Demonstrated experience using large language model tools such as Claude or equivalents to support research, productivity, and communication

Nice to have

- Hands-on experience with fraud detection platforms and rule-based tooling - Background working in fintech, payments, lending, banking, or another financial services setting - Degree in statistics, mathematics, finance, economics, or another quantitative discipline; a graduate degree is a plus - Ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage multiple priorities, and operate with strong integrity
