Role overview A remote Senior Engineering Manager role leading a Foundations team that owns the cloud platform and infrastructure underpinning the broader engineering organization. The leader will scale the team, set technical direction, and drive delivery, reliability, and operational excellence across deployment pipelines, observability, databases, and production operations. The position blends deep platform fluency with people leadership and a strong sense of urgency.
Responsibilities - Hire, develop, and grow the team, expanding headcount and setting clear leveling paths and growth plans while addressing underperformance directly. - Build a high-trust, high-standards culture through visible day-to-day engagement in standups, channels, and decision-making. - Commit to quarterly goals with clear milestones and maintain predictable delivery timelines, actively unblocking the team. - Drive architectural direction for platform and infrastructure initiatives, providing frameworks for speed, cost, and reliability tradeoffs. - Own reliability and operational excellence, including on-call discipline, incident response, deployment, and release management. - Champion AI-assisted, agentic development practices across the team.
Requirements - Experience managing platform, infrastructure, or foundational engineering teams in high-growth environments. - Deep technical fluency across cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred), Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, and observability. - Strong software engineering background with proficiency in Go, Python, TypeScript, or Ruby. - Experience operating SQL and RDBMS in production at scale (PostgreSQL preferred). - Track record building on-call programs, owning incident response, and running deployment and release management. - Strong communication and cross-functional leadership skills, with a proactive, outcomes-oriented mindset.
Benefits and work setup - Remote position. Typical base salary range of $172,500 to $260,100 annually, with $207,800 to $285,800 in select San Francisco and New York City metropolitan areas; incentive compensation, equity, and benefits may be available depending on role and location.
