Director of Payments Venture

Role overview

This is a founder-style role charged with launching a new payments venture built on top of an EVM-compatible Bitcoin sidechain. The director takes proven protocol-level technology and turns it into a portfolio of payment products spanning remittances, merchant payments, and agentic transactions. Operating at startup speed, the hire shapes their own product-engineering squad, serves as the external face of the venture, and reports to senior technical leadership with high autonomy.

Responsibilities

- Define and execute the product portfolio roadmap across multiple payment verticals - Validate product-market fit through customer discovery, pilots, and design partnerships - Build, structure, and lead a dedicated product-engineering squad - Represent the venture externally at conferences, partner meetings, and ecosystem conversations - Align with research and engineering on underlying protocol capabilities and upcoming rollouts - Deliver several foundational platform launches within a 6–18 month window - Drive commercial traction by securing early partners, distribution channels, and revenue paths

Requirements

- 3–7 years in payments, remittances, or fintech, with crypto experience as essential and traditional rails as a plus - Hands-on experience building crypto payment products from inside the team rather than at the periphery - Strong understanding of Bitcoin and EVM ecosystems - Fluency across product strategy, customer discovery, and partnerships - Familiarity with agentic, AI-driven payment flows or programmable money - Track record of incubating and scaling a product from early stage - Comfort operating at startup speed, prioritizing ruthlessly, and navigating ambiguity - Willingness to act as the visible, public-facing leader of a new venture
