About this role
Role overview Lead a product design team while continuing to design hands-on. The role combines ownership of selected projects from discovery through delivery with responsibility for raising design quality and building practices that support a cohesive experience across multiple product areas in a veterinary staffing marketplace.
Responsibilities - Manage, mentor, and develop a five-person design team, strengthening craft, critical thinking, and strategic influence. - Make design expectations clear and consistent across the organization, and support career development and performance reviews. - Personally design projects ranging from complex challenges to exploratory concepts and work that unblocks teammates. - Partner with leaders to connect design direction with product strategy and business goals. - Build and improve design systems and practices across research, concept development, interaction design, prototyping, and delivery. - Advocate for customer needs, encourage thoughtful exploration, and help the team use AI effectively, including in component-based prototyping.
Requirements - At least 8 years of product design experience and 2 years managing designers. - Demonstrated success coaching senior designers and helping them grow from strong execution toward strategic influence. - A portfolio showing visual and interaction design, systems thinking, product storytelling, and user-centered work. - Experience creating and scaling design systems. - Practical AI experience in design, with sound judgment about where generated work is useful and where it needs improvement. - Experience with user research, cross-functional leadership communication, and turning ambiguous ideas into product concepts.
Nice to have Experience leading design across multiple products or surfaces; marketplace experience, especially with two-sided services, is a plus.
