Lead Design Engineer

Role overview Build and evolve the design systems that help teams ship coherent, high-quality web and mobile experiences. This role works across design and code, creating shared components, patterns, tokens, and guidance for both human contributors and AI-assisted workflows. The system should help teams move efficiently while preserving usability, accessibility, performance, and visual quality.

Responsibilities - Develop shared design system components, evaluation methods, and feedback loops that improve AI-assisted design and code generation. - Translate design decisions into maintainable implementations, with shared ownership of quality and performance. - Make accessibility, responsive behavior, and performance core properties of system components. - Establish contribution, governance, and deprecation practices that support change while maintaining system consistency. - Gather input from designers and engineers alongside usage data to guide system improvements. - Share effective AI tools and workflows with design and engineering colleagues.

Requirements - At least eight years of experience in design engineering, design systems, product design, or front-end engineering for web and mobile products. - A shipped design system or component library, with a portfolio, case studies, or code samples showing the work and its adoption. - Strong interaction and visual design judgment, including knowing when to follow established patterns and when to create new ones. - Experience with design tokens, theming, and accessibility standards. - Ability to work across design and implementation and collaborate with designers and engineers.
