Role overview
The Senior Design Engineer operates between product design and frontend engineering, translating design intent into polished, accessible, production-ready interfaces. This is a hands-on role for someone who can move from exploration and visual detail to maintainable implementation, make sound trade-offs, and remain accountable for quality after launch.
Responsibilities
- Turn product concepts and design specifications into responsive, high-quality frontend experiences. - Resolve gaps or ambiguities in designs while balancing customer value, feasibility, scope, and risk. - Develop maintainable interfaces with careful attention to state, component architecture, performance, testing, edge cases, accessibility, and interaction detail. - Partner closely with product designers and engineers throughout discovery, implementation, review, and follow-up. - Contribute to shared components, design systems, reusable patterns, and design-to-code workflows. - Ship meaningful product improvements end to end and help raise standards for frontend and interaction quality.
Requirements
- Strong experience building substantial production user interfaces in complex product environments. - Demonstrated ability to bridge design and frontend engineering using code as a design medium. - Strong judgment in layout, typography, motion, responsiveness, accessibility, and visual polish. - Ability to reason about frontend architecture, performance, testing, and implementation edge cases. - Comfort working with incomplete specifications and making thoughtful, technically realistic decisions. - Clear communication and ownership in a remote, asynchronous, cross-functional environment. - Willingness to use AI-assisted development tools while independently understanding, debugging, and improving the resulting work.
