About this role
Role overview
Build and deploy software that connects AI products with the systems and day-to-day operations of mining customers. As the first forward deployed engineer, you’ll work directly with users, turn operational needs into integrations and prototypes, and help ensure solutions hold up in demanding field environments. The role includes regular travel, with about a quarter of the time spent onsite at customer locations across the United States.
Responsibilities
- Spend time with operators, analysts, and frontline teams to understand their workflows, constraints, and integration needs. - Build and adapt integrations and prototypes onsite to validate ideas and address urgent operational problems. - Diagnose issues across customer systems and deployment environments, then develop practical fixes. - Translate field observations into clear requirements and scalable solutions in partnership with engineering. - Help deploy and support software in industrial or government settings where reliability and safety matter.
Requirements
- Strong technical problem-solving skills and the ability to build working solutions quickly. - Experience with hands-on prototyping and AI-assisted coding tools. - Ability to analyze data, form hypotheses, and use evidence to guide decisions. - Clear communication skills, including explaining technical issues to varied audiences. - Comfort working independently through ambiguity while maintaining attention to detail. - Based in the United States; citizenship or permanent residency is preferred.
Nice to have
- Experience supporting customers onsite or working in operational environments. - Familiarity with software deployments in industrial or government settings, including safety, latency, offline access, or compliance constraints. - Exposure to web or mobile apps, cloud infrastructure, industrial or IoT systems, or real-time data pipelines. - Knowledge of mining operations or industrial safety requirements.
Benefits and work setup
The position is remote, with customer travel across the United States. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage; unlimited paid time off; a 401(k) with a 4% safe-harbor match; equity; and a home office allowance.
