Software Engineer

Role overview This is a remote Software Engineer role based in Portugal, joining a product team that builds a B2B SaaS platform for gifting, branded swag, and event experiences used by enterprise marketing, sales, and people teams. The engineer will work as an individual contributor across the full stack, designing and shipping features that power sourcing, storage, and global delivery workflows, and collaborating with engineers, product managers, and designers in a distributed setup. AI-assisted engineering is a core part of the daily workflow, paired with high standards for code quality, performance, and accessibility.

Responsibilities - Design, develop, and maintain features across the platform, from backend systems and integrations to responsive web interfaces, using Ruby on Rails, Python, SQL, React, and modern JavaScript. - Build, enhance, and maintain public and internal RESTful APIs and their documentation, as well as the MCP server. - Use AI development tools daily for coding, refactoring, testing, debugging, and documentation, with disciplined review of generated code for correctness, security, and maintainability. - Participate in technical decision-making, code reviews, testing, performance, and accessibility work across the team. - Advocate for and implement DevOps best practices including monitoring, logging, and incident response using tools such as Sentry, DataDog, New Relic, and Sidekiq.

Requirements - 3+ years of software development experience in a product-focused company, with a solid grasp of engineering principles, design patterns, and best practices. - Comfort working across both backend and frontend layers, including React and modern JavaScript on the front end and Ruby on Rails, relational databases, and SQL on the back end. - Experience designing, building, and maintaining RESTful APIs, including clear, user-friendly documentation. - Regular hands-on use of AI coding assistants or agents, with skill in writing effective prompts and critically reviewing generated code. - Practical experience with automated testing, CI/CD workflows, and monitoring or performance tools such as Sentry, DataDog, New Relic, and Sidekiq. - Strong problem-solving skills for diagnosing and resolving complex issues in production and test environments.

Nice to have - E-commerce or B2B SaaS experience with orders, payments, catalogs, fulfillment, or logistics, ideally in a multi-country setting. - Experience building and maintaining third-party integrations such as CRMs, suppliers, or marketplaces, including webhooks, retries, and data syncing.
