Senior Data Analyst

Role overview

This remote senior position leads the design, modernization, governance, and optimization of enterprise analytics and business intelligence products. The role combines hands-on Power BI and Microsoft Fabric development with dashboard portfolio strategy, semantic modeling, advanced analytics, stakeholder consulting, and technical mentorship.

Responsibilities

- Lead enterprise analytics architecture and delivery, including governed semantic models, certified datasets, reusable components, and executive, operational, compliance, and mission-focused dashboards. - Assess reporting portfolios for adoption, duplication, technical debt, performance, and retirement opportunities; then plan and execute consolidation, modernization, and migration work. - Develop advanced DAX, Power Query transformations, business logic, row-level and object-level security, and performance improvements. - Establish governed self-service analytics approaches, advising on operating models, licensing, capacity, deployment, and access controls. - Translate stakeholder needs into analytical requirements, functional specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria, product roadmaps, and lifecycle decisions. - Validate data and troubleshoot complex semantic-model, reporting, performance, and quality issues while documenting products and supporting demonstrations, testing, training, and adoption.

Requirements

- Significant experience delivering enterprise business intelligence, analytics, and reporting solutions. - Strong hands-on Power BI experience with advanced DAX, Power Query, semantic models, and reusable datasets. - Experience with Microsoft Fabric or a comparable enterprise analytics platform. - Experience designing executive, operational, or compliance dashboards and optimizing their performance and usability. - Experience gathering requirements, leading stakeholder workshops, applying data governance and security principles, and managing analytics modernization or migration. - Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills, plus an active Secret clearance.

Nice to have

- Power BI certification; experience with deployment pipelines, enterprise workspaces, portfolio rationalization, self-service governance, licensing and capacity strategy, or AI-assisted analytics. - Experience with predictive models, forecasting, statistical analysis, Python, R, metadata, lineage, data catalogs, or large-scale federal, defense, or education analytics environments. - Experience mentoring analysts and establishing enterprise standards for reporting, visualization, semantic modeling, and analytics development.
