About this role
Role overview
Join the Payments engineering group of a B2B real estate closing platform that processes a substantial share of U.S. residential home sales each year. The team builds the systems that safely move funds during a closing—including earnest money deposits, loan funding, mortgage payoffs, seller proceeds, and commissions—handling billions of dollars in annual transaction volume. As a senior engineer, you will own high-stakes payment infrastructure where precision, fraud prevention, and reliability are mission-critical.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain systems that process ACH and wire transfers at scale, including origination, settlement, reconciliation, and exception handling. - Build and harden payment-processing pipelines that integrate with banking partners, payment rails, and third-party financial APIs. - Implement controls for wire fraud prevention, transaction verification, and anomaly detection alongside security and compliance teams. - Improve and extend core web applications (frontend and backend) supporting escrow accounting and closing-day money movement. - Drive architectural decisions for payments infrastructure, including data integrity, idempotency, retry/failure handling, and audit logging. - Partner with Compliance, Risk, and Accounting stakeholders to meet regulatory and audit requirements such as NACHA rules, wire fraud regulations, and SOC 2 controls. - Participate in an on-call rotation for payment-critical systems.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a strong full-stack web developer. - Direct experience building or maintaining money-movement systems in banking, fintech, or payments processing. - Track record of taking full ownership of complex, high-liability systems in production. - Calm, methodical approach to incident response when funds are at stake.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as NACHA rules, wire fraud regulations, and SOC 2 controls. - Background partnering with compliance, risk, or accounting teams.
Benefits and work setup
- Comprehensive health plans, 401(k) program, and commuter benefits. - Parental leave and a flexible time off policy. - Professional development support, biweekly all-hands meetings, and virtual internal events. - Online onboarding program for new hires.
