Software Engineer, Full Stack

Role overview

This full stack engineering role supports a healthcare platform that connects patients with care teams through a central registry system. The engineer will work across the entire stack — frontend, backend, and data layer — to deliver features, build integrations with electronic medical records, billing, and messaging platforms, and uphold HIPAA-compliant engineering practices. It is a remote position suited to someone comfortable in a fast-paced startup setting who can partner closely with product, data, and clinical operations.

Responsibilities

- Design, build, and ship full stack features spanning UI, backend services, and database layers - Develop and maintain integrations with healthcare platforms such as EMR, revenue cycle management, and messaging systems, plus CRM tooling - Build and maintain APIs and webhooks with careful attention to idempotency, retries, and data reconciliation - Design and evolve Postgres schemas and queries, balancing performance, integrity, and clarity - Partner with product, data, and clinical operations to translate requirements into shipped software - Write unit, integration, and end-to-end tests; participate in code reviews and uphold engineering quality - Support CI/CD pipelines, deployments, and monitoring/observability for the systems you own - Follow HIPAA and security best practices when handling protected health information - Troubleshoot production issues and identify root causes across services

Requirements

- 3–6+ years of professional full stack software engineering experience - Proficiency with a modern JavaScript/TypeScript stack (e.g., React/Next.js on the frontend; Node.js or Python on the backend) - Strong SQL skills and hands-on experience with relational databases, Postgres preferred - Experience building and consuming REST APIs and integrating third-party SaaS platforms - Comfort working across UI, backend services, and the data layer rather than specializing in one - Strong testing discipline and code quality habits, including unit/integration testing, code review, and documentation - Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, remote startup environment and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners - Hands-on experience using AI-powered development tools to accelerate coding, testing, and debugging

Nice to have

- Experience in healthcare or another regulated industry with familiarity in HIPAA and PHI handling - Hands-on experience with healthcare platforms (EMR, RCM, or similar clinical systems) - Healthcare data experience — clinical, claims, or operational data in a warehouse or BI environment (e.g., Snowflake, dbt, Sigma) - Familiarity with healthcare data standards and interoperability formats such as FHIR, HL7, X12/837-835 - Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP), containerization (Docker), and CI/CD tooling (GitHub Actions) - Prior early-stage startup experience with comfort in ambiguity and shifting priorities

Benefits and work setup

- Compensation range: $140,000–$155,000, depending on experience and fit - Remote-first work environment within a small, fast-moving team
