About this role
Role overview Build and operate Android features for a mobile product used by creators and their audiences. This senior individual contributor role spans design, implementation, release, and production support, with opportunities to shape architecture, improve reliability, and guide engineering practices.
Responsibilities - Own Android features from technical design through testing, release, and production monitoring. - Build accessible interfaces and resilient integrations for APIs, authentication, caching, and background work. - Improve application architecture, stability, release quality, and performance across devices and network conditions. - Investigate crashes, memory and performance issues, and device-specific problems; take production issues through resolution. - Expand automated coverage for key user journeys, review code, mentor engineers, and reduce recurring defects. - Collaborate with product, design, QA, backend, and iOS teams, using AI coding tools with careful validation and data protection.
Requirements - At least 5 years of software engineering experience, including substantial native Android development. - Strong Kotlin skills and experience with the Android SDK, Jetpack, lifecycle management, concurrency, and API integration. - Experience shipping and maintaining production Android applications and writing automated tests. - Ability to troubleshoot across devices, networks, and performance conditions. - Understanding of mobile security, accessibility, CI/CD, and application release processes. - Strong debugging, communication, and collaboration skills; able to work independently and provide technical guidance to others.
Nice to have - Experience with creator, social, community, media, or social-feed products. - Experience mentoring engineers or contributing to mobile engineering standards.
