Role overview
Set technical direction for a high-traffic mobile product built with React Native across iOS and Android. This senior individual-contributor role owns mobile architecture and delivery quality, leads complex work across teams, and raises engineering standards through technical guidance and mentorship. The work also includes exploring AI capabilities in development workflows and customer-facing experiences.
Responsibilities
- Define the mobile platform’s long-term architecture and technical strategy, from shared patterns and infrastructure to performance and release engineering. - Evaluate and advance AI applications such as agentic coding tools, on-device intelligence and personalized features. - Lead initiatives spanning mobile, backend, product, design and data, keeping stakeholders aligned from planning through delivery. - Set standards for code quality, testing, observability and mobile engineering practices. - Improve app performance, reliability and release quality, including CI/CD, crash monitoring and progressive rollouts. - Mentor engineers through reviews, architectural guidance, coaching and technical discussions. - Partner with product and design on the roadmap, and remove platform bottlenecks that slow delivery or harm the user experience.
Requirements
- 10+ years in software engineering, including 5+ years building and scaling production mobile applications and substantial React Native experience. - Deep production expertise in React Native, including its New Architecture, native modules and strategies for maintaining parity across platforms. - Experience owning complex mobile initiatives from concept through production at scale. - Ability to define technical direction and influence architecture, tools and engineering practices beyond one team. - Strong collaboration skills across engineering, product, design and data, including the ability to explain technical trade-offs in business terms. - Experience leading multi-team projects and actively mentoring engineers. - A computer science, engineering or related degree, or equivalent practical experience.
