Job details
About this role
Role overview
Lead product and service design for complex workflows, with a primary focus on onboarding for legal document delivery. You’ll work across customer-facing tools and operational processes, helping teams understand problems, weigh options, and shape solutions while key decisions are still open. The role calls for close partnership with product, engineering, and operations teams, alongside independent ownership from early discovery through delivery.
Responsibilities
- Frame ambiguous workflow problems and trace how changes affect customers, field teams, and internal operations. - Design connected services that may involve software, process changes, automation, or a combination of approaches. - Build prototypes at suitable levels of detail to test assumptions, gather feedback, and support decisions. - Develop clear workflows, interfaces, information structures, and interaction states across digital and operational settings. - Learn from users and real service activity, including conversations, observation, and investigation of day-to-day work. - Improve reusable interaction patterns and language, share findings, and contribute critique and guidance to other designers.
Requirements
- Demonstrated product design experience, including independent ownership of complex product or service workflows from framing through delivery. - Ability to work through ambiguity, explain design choices and tradeoffs, and bring work to launch. - Experience designing for operational teams, expert users, or complex systems where accuracy, trust, and efficient workflows matter. - Skill in rapidly building context through user conversations, observation, and hands-on exploration of service processes. - Comfort prototyping at different fidelities and using early work to support discussion and learning. - Ability to influence product and technical direction across disciplines and introduce change in established environments.
Nice to have
- Experience in legal technology, logistics, marketplaces, or field services. - Experience with workflow automation or AI-assisted products, including judgment about where automation is appropriate and where human oversight matters.
Benefits and work setup
- Full-time salaried position, remote within Canada. - Medical, dental, vision, and disability coverage; retirement savings plan available. - Monthly phone and internet stipend, flexible paid time off and holidays, and equipment provided.
