About this role
Role overview Build and evaluate post-training and agent systems for public-sector organizations and regulated industries. The work focuses on improving models using an operator’s own workflows while respecting strict limits on data access, deployment, auditability, and human authority. You’ll work with external partners and contribute methods that can transfer across high-assurance settings.
Responsibilities - Turn operational workflows and sensitive traces into training tasks, environments, evaluations, and useful reward signals within the operator’s data boundary. - Develop tool-using agents with explicit permissions, traceable actions, recovery paths, and human checkpoints. - Design evaluations for reliability, calibration, robustness, escalation, and compliance with real procedures, including under adversarial or changing conditions. - Run post-training experiments against meaningful baselines and identify whether changes in results came from the model, data, tools, inference, or infrastructure. - Deliver improvement loops from trace selection through model updates that can be deployed within partner constraints. - Share reusable findings through research, open-source systems, and product capabilities.
Requirements - Relevant experience in reinforcement learning or post-training, private ML, high-assurance evaluation, agent safety, regulated-domain ML, public-sector technical work, or ML deployment under strict data and infrastructure constraints. - Hands-on experience building and debugging model-training, agent, evaluation, or closely related experimental systems. - Strong experimental judgment, including careful trace review, clear failure attribution, and willingness to revise an approach based on evidence. - Strong Python skills and the ability to create artifacts others can run, inspect, and extend. - Ability to take ownership of ambiguous work and keep partners and teammates informed. - Evidence of strong work, such as publications, open-source projects, benchmarks, or shipped products.
Benefits and work setup - Full-time role with flexible work location, including remote options. - Listed cash compensation range of $150,000–$300,000, plus equity incentives. - Visa sponsorship and relocation support, professional development budget, and team off-sites and conference attendance.
