Applied Research - Quantitative Finance
Job details
About this role
Role overview Build agents, environments, evaluations, and post-training methods for quantitative research and systematic decision-making. The work addresses noisy, shifting observations and delayed, path-dependent outcomes, where apparent historical performance can fail once costs, constraints, or new market conditions are considered. Projects may include research agents, market and portfolio simulators, time-series reasoning, and execution workflows.
Responsibilities - Translate quantitative research workflows into tasks, environments, evaluations, and reward signals. - Develop agents and post-training methods for research and systematic decisions under changing conditions. - Build or improve market and portfolio simulations that reflect costs and operational constraints. - Evaluate results against meaningful baselines and test whether they hold across regimes rather than relying on historical fit alone. - Inspect failures and distinguish model improvements from effects of data, tools, inference, or infrastructure. - Share reusable findings through research, open-source systems, and product capabilities.
Requirements - Hands-on experience building and debugging model-training, post-training, agent, evaluation, or closely related experimental loops. - Strong experimental judgment, including meaningful baselines, careful trace inspection, clear failure attribution, and willingness to change direction when evidence changes. - Strong Python skills and ability to build artifacts others can run, inspect, and extend. - Comfort owning ambiguous problems and keeping partners and teammates informed. - Evidence of strong work, such as publications, open-source systems, benchmarks, or shipped products; be prepared to explain a difficult project, what failed, and how evidence shaped your approach.
Benefits and work setup - Full-time role with flexible work location, including remote options. - Listed cash compensation range of $150,000–$300,000, plus equity incentives. - Visa sponsorship and relocation support, professional development budget, and team off-sites and conference attendance.
