Remote job
Embedded Systems & Cloud Engineer
Job details
About this role
Role overview An early-stage, venture-backed Physical AI company is hiring an engineer to own the full technical chain for its real-world robot training data platform. The role spans embedded firmware on wearable sensing devices through to cloud pipelines that ingest, store, and process synchronized vision-and-touch data. It is a remote-first, hands-on engineering position with regional ownership of in-field device deployments.
Responsibilities - Design, develop, and maintain firmware for wearable sensing devices, including microcontroller programming, sensor integration, and real-time data acquisition. - Build reliable device-to-cloud communication and data streaming pipelines for synchronized multimodal capture. - Operate and extend the AWS stack (EC2, S3, Lambda, IoT Core) to handle large-scale collection, storage, and processing with a focus on scalability, security, and performance. - Develop APIs, ingestion services, and high-throughput data pipelines in Python. - Remotely deploy, monitor, and maintain the device fleet at real-world capture sites, turning field issues into engineering fixes (occasional travel required). - Debug issues across firmware, hardware, and cloud layers, and collaborate with hardware, ML, and data teams on system requirements, testing, and documentation.
Requirements - 4+ years of combined engineering experience across embedded systems and cloud infrastructure. - Strong firmware background in C/C++, RTOS, microcontrollers, real-time systems, and low-level programming. - Hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda, IoT Core) and high-throughput, reliable data pipelines. - Solid software engineering skills in Python, covering APIs, data streaming, and hardware-to-cloud integration. - Working knowledge of networking, security best practices, performance optimization, and monitoring/logging. - Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience); fluent English required, with Korean or Mandarin as a strong plus.
Nice to have - Experience with robotics, tactile or force sensing, wearables, or IoT devices. - Background building real-world data collection systems, including sensor fusion, time synchronization, and multi-camera capture. - Exposure to ML data pipelines or datasets for robot learning. - Experience deploying and supporting hardware in the field, including remote device management.
Benefits and work setup - Remote-first role based in South Korea (Seoul, Pangyo, Busan, or Daejeon), with full-time employment and an ASAP start. - Early-stage team environment with high ownership, fast iteration, and direct impact on datasets used to train next-generation robot manipulation models.
