About this role
Role overview This is a senior individual-contributor position on a small analytics leadership team within a UK insurance business focused on home, motor, and pet cover. The role combines hands-on analytics with peer review, coaching, and partnering closely with commercial stakeholders. Roughly 60–70% of the time is technical, and the remainder supports two analysts and the wider team's standards.
Responsibilities - Partner with a commercial business team on analytics projects with measurable financial impact, such as building pricing-elasticity tools that surface gaps and opportunities for the trading function. - Act as a translator between business partners and the data platform, helping them explore their domain knowledge through the available data. - Shape and uphold team standards for coding, peer review, documentation, and knowledge sharing. - Build reusable workflows and tooling, and introduce new tools or approaches that improve how the team operates. - Champion the safe use of generative AI assistants such as Claude or ChatGPT, including accuracy checks so colleagues can trust outputs. - Line-manage and coach two analysts, supporting their growth and the quality of their work.
Requirements - Around five or more years of significant experience in data analysis, with a track record of delivering measurable commercial impact. - Deep, production-level SQL skills and hands-on experience with a cloud data warehouse (GCP or equivalent). - A history of building tools or models that are adopted and used regularly by others. - Practical experience using generative AI tools in day-to-day work and helping colleagues adopt them well. - Comfort partnering with non-technical business stakeholders and learning how they think. - Experience coaching or mentoring other analysts, formally or informally.
Nice to have - Background in the insurance industry. - Experience with dbt, Python, or Power BI.
Benefits and work setup - Based in a London office, with hybrid or remote options available. - Pension matching up to 7%. - Private medical and dental cover. - £1,000 annual learning budget plus study leave. - Enhanced maternity and paternity provisions. - Season ticket loan for travel. - Access to a wide selection of London O2 events and use of a private lounge. - Employee wellbeing programme. - An inclusive workplace with reasonable adjustments available during interview, and a dedicated prayer room in the office.
