Job details
About this role
Role overview Build and operate the core infrastructure behind a container application platform. The work spans a microVM runtime, Kubernetes-based services, networking, data storage, and the tooling used to provision and observe production systems. You’ll collaborate with teams responsible for the command-line interface and web console to make platform capabilities available to users.
Responsibilities - Design and operate the Kata Containers microVM runtime used to isolate workloads. - Build and maintain Go services for platform control, scheduling, and ingress. - Improve metrics, logging, alerting, and the broader observability pipeline. - Contribute to CI/CD and provisioning systems, including GitOps workflows and k3s. - Coordinate with CLI and console teams to expose infrastructure capabilities.
Requirements - Strong systems programming experience; Go is preferred, with Rust also relevant. - Hands-on knowledge of Kubernetes internals, such as controllers, custom resources, and admission webhooks. - Ability to operate Linux at a low level, including understanding cgroups, namespaces, and networking. - Experience with hypervisors or container runtimes such as KVM, containerd, runc, or Kata. - A track record of delivering production infrastructure.
Nice to have - Familiarity with eBPF or Cilium. - Production PostgreSQL operations, including replication, backups, or failover, or experience running Prometheus-compatible metrics at scale. - Contributions to open-source infrastructure projects.
Benefits and work setup Full-time and remote within UK or EU time zones. The source describes equity, a home-office hardware budget, and an async-first, low-meeting culture.
