Role overview
This Manager of IT and Security role oversees security, compliance, tools administration, helpdesk support, and broader IT needs at a fully remote workforce data company. The position manages one direct report and partners closely with leaders across product, engineering, and other departments. It is a leadership role for someone who can take security and compliance seriously while still enabling a flexible remote workplace.
Responsibilities
- Manage the IT and Security team and own the project roadmap, helpdesk workflows, and prioritization process - Lead cross-functional initiatives such as migrations, system rollouts, and security enhancements - Maintain a structured, automated, and audit-ready set of security and compliance processes, procedures, and protocols - Partner with product and engineering stakeholders on shared security initiatives and clear project plans for complex technical changes - Oversee company-wide application authentication, access management standards, and disaster recovery processes for critical systems - Facilitate vendor relationships, evaluations, contracts, and renewals to keep tooling spend carefully managed
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience managing an IT, Security, or Technical Operations team - 3+ years of experience working in a fully remote environment - Experience managing IT project roadmaps, vendor relationships, and enterprise system migrations or rollouts - Working knowledge of enterprise identity and access management, authentication standards, and disaster recovery planning - AWS security experience with IAM, CloudTrail, Inspector, and Organizations + SCP - Experience with SSO and an identity provider (preferably Okta), compliance automation tools (e.g., Vanta), and basic scripting in Python or Bash - Strong organizational, project management, written, and verbal communication skills
Nice to have
- Exposure to remote security tooling such as Tailscale, SentinelOne, or 1Password - Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Pulumi, Terraform) - Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Datadog)
