Job details
About this role
Role overview Own technical problems that span systems and teams on a platform engineering group building the cloud foundation for patient- and provider-facing products. The role combines hands-on engineering on the hardest changes with multi-quarter planning, design authorship, and mentorship of senior engineers in a regulated healthcare environment.
Responsibilities - Lead multi-quarter programs spanning several systems, including how cloud accounts, CI/CD, identity, and artifact management fit together and trust each other. - Set technical direction through design documents and decision records, building agreement across engineering and security functions. - Define reliability for supported services: service levels, alerting strategy, and on-call design that routes problems to the people who can fix them. - Sequence risky changes across interconnected systems so that fixes in one area do not break another, including how reliability work from the SRE team reaches production safely. - Identify what the team should work on next, making the case with cost and risk analysis. - Mentor senior engineers through design review and stay hands-on for the most critical changes.
Requirements - 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering, cloud or infrastructure engineering, systems or network administration, site reliability, DevOps, or platform engineering. - Deep hands-on experience designing and operating production cloud infrastructure, containers, and CI/CD (AWS, Kubernetes, or similar), with infrastructure as code. - Track record of leading a technical initiative that spanned multiple systems or teams from proposal to completion. - Experience designing for reliability and security, including access models, deployment safety, observability, and incident response.
Nice to have - Experience designing Kubernetes platforms (EKS, GitOps) and multi-account AWS organizations, IAM, and cross-account networking; Azure is a plus. - Familiarity with securing CI/CD: federated identity, short-lived credentials, secrets management, and software supply-chain controls. - Experience setting SLOs and alerting strategy with tools like New Relic or PagerDuty. - Build-versus-buy and vendor evaluation experience, including AI-assisted operational tooling, in regulated environments (HIPAA, SOC 2). - Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Benefits and work setup - Remote within the United States with 2–4 trips per year. - Base salary range $136,880 – $210,891, with a comprehensive benefits package including flexible time off, hybrid work options, mental and emotional wellness resources, and a 401(k).
