About this role
Role overview A growth-stage fintech and SaaS platform focused on enabling giving for churches, nonprofits, and mission-driven institutions is hiring a Senior QA Engineer to lead quality across product teams. The role acts as a force multiplier, empowering engineers to own testing and ensuring donor and nonprofit flows remain reliable at scale. It blends hands-on manual and exploratory testing with collaboration on automated coverage.
Responsibilities - Define and own the overall QA strategy, maintaining comprehensive test plans and cases that balance both manual and automated approaches. - Lead feature testing cycles, personally running exploratory, functional, and regression testing on new releases before production. - Partner with product engineers to review their test plans and ensure coverage across the full test pyramid, including unit, integration, and end-to-end layers. - Conduct recurring production sweeps and smoke tests to proactively confirm critical donor and nonprofit journeys remain functional. - Serve as the primary user advocate, surfacing edge cases, inconsistencies, and accessibility or usability issues that automation may miss. - Help expand and maintain automated test coverage, working within frameworks such as Cypress, analyzing failures, and contributing new test cases. - Validate RESTful APIs for data integrity, performance, and security using tools such as Postman or Insomnia. - Track bugs and defects meticulously through the issue tracker, verifying resolutions with developers and participating in planning and design reviews to surface quality risks early.
Requirements - 5+ years of experience in Quality Assurance or Software Test Engineering roles. - Proficiency in building test plans and cases from product requirements and design specifications. - Deep understanding of manual and exploratory testing techniques and judgment about when to apply them. - Comfort working with test automation frameworks such as Cypress or Jest, including reading, modifying, and running tests, even without senior-level development skills. - Experience testing RESTful APIs with tools like Postman or Insomnia. - Expertise with bug tracking platforms such as Jira or Linear, plus version control systems like GitLab. - Strong grasp of the SDLC, CI/CD pipelines, and agile methodologies, paired with strong communication skills for translating bugs and risks to mixed audiences.
Nice to have - A keen eye for detail, strong user empathy, and a passion for tracking down elusive defects.
Benefits and work setup - Base salary range of $120,000–$170,000, benchmarked by geography and function, with eligibility for equity, performance-based bonuses, and a comprehensive benefits package. - Medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and dependents. - Generous paid time off, company holidays, and paid parental leave. - 401(k) retirement plan and a dedicated mental health and therapy stipend. - Team retreats and intentional in-person gatherings throughout the year. - Flexible work model with no company-wide in-office requirement, alongside optional office access in Los Gatos, CA and Birmingham, AL.
