About this role

Role overview

A full-stack engineering role focused on building map and spatial analytics features for a data intelligence platform that runs in cloud, self-hosted, and air-gapped environments. The work supports mission teams in defense, law enforcement, and enterprise settings who need to turn complex, multi-modal data into actionable insights. The engineer will deliver interactive 2D and 3D mapping experiences that remain functional in both connected and disconnected deployments.

Responsibilities

- Develop React and TypeScript features for the map workspace, including layers, annotations, timelines, and overlays. - Build APIs that connect to PostGIS, geoprocessing services, and vector or 3D tile pipelines. - Tune performance for large spatial datasets and offline workflows through tiling, caching, and packaging strategies. - Add telemetry instrumentation, write automated tests, and join the on-call rotation for spatial services. - Collaborate with designers, analysts, and data engineers to iterate quickly on user feedback.

Requirements

- Three to seven years building geospatial or visualization-heavy full-stack applications. - Strong proficiency in TypeScript and React, plus Node.js or Python on the back end, with hands-on experience using Mapbox, MapLibre, or Cesium. - Solid understanding of geospatial data formats, coordinate reference systems, projections, and performance optimization techniques. - Eligibility to work in Germany, with EU or NATO citizenship and the ability to pass security screening.

Nice to have

- German language skills at B1 level or above. - Experience with offline synchronization patterns, deck.gl, or NATO military symbology.

Benefits and work setup

- Modern technology stack including TypeScript, Next.js, React, Node, Kafka, Temporal, Postgres, OpenSearch, and Kubernetes. - Remote-first arrangement within Germany, with periodic in-person prototyping sprints in Berlin. - Thirty days of vacation annually, plus an equipment allowance and a dedicated learning budget.
