Senior Software Engineer (Scala)

Role overview Shape the technical foundations and product direction of a platform that helps businesses manage maintenance work. As an early engineering hire, you’ll partner closely with company founders, take ownership of user-facing product areas, and help establish engineering practices as the team grows.

Responsibilities - Design, build, and maintain production services for a scalable, reactive platform. - Own technical infrastructure and contribute to product roadmap decisions. - Deliver product improvements that address customer needs and make day-to-day work easier. - Work with founders and teammates to define engineering culture and technical direction. - Communicate clearly about technical decisions and deliver work reliably.

Requirements - At least 3 years building and maintaining production applications. - Strong Scala experience, with familiarity in frameworks such as Play, Akka, or Lagom. - Experience with MySQL, Kafka, and Redis. - Experience with Python, Docker, AWS services, WebSockets, and Kubernetes. - Strong computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and programming languages. - Evidence of shipping complete products used and valued by customers, alongside strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Nice to have - React or React Native experience. - Interest in technical leadership and defining the long-term direction of an engineering organization.
