About this role
Role overview Shape the direction and delivery of products across an open-source smart home ecosystem. The role is expected to cover a pairing of projects, with the exact combination matched to the successful candidate’s strengths and interests. You will connect user and contributor feedback with product strategy, working closely with designers, engineers, and a global community.
Responsibilities - Set product vision, strategy, and roadmap priorities for assigned products. - Turn opportunities into delivered features and improvements with engineering and design partners. - Participate in day-to-day product development and help teams make progress through delivery. - Gather and assess feedback from community channels, including forums, chat communities, and code repositories. - Coordinate with internal teams, external collaborators, and commercial partners, including around hardware and software releases. - Use research and marketing support to validate ideas and encourage adoption.
Requirements - At least five years of product management experience delivering user value. - At least three years shaping product strategy and vision. - Experience working autonomously and using iterative development and release practices. - Ability to work hands-on with engineers and UX designers, including coordinating project delivery. - Strong written and spoken English, with the ability to adapt communication to different audiences. - Comfortable speaking publicly at workshops, meetups, or livestreams; currently resident and eligible to work in Europe.
Nice to have - Interest in smart homes and automation, or experience using open-source smart home tools. - Curiosity and enthusiasm for learning.
Benefits and work setup This is a full-time, fully remote role for 40 hours per week, with flexible scheduling and an expected three-hour daily overlap for team communication. Employment is arranged in the employee’s country. Benefits include at least 25 days of paid leave, eligible sick and parental leave, a work equipment budget, a contribution toward home internet, and one day every two weeks for personal projects. Compensation varies by location and experience; indicative annual figures are provided for several European countries.
